“The Newcastle Song” was written and performed by Bob Hudson, about an aspect of life in Newcastle (NSW); it was a humorous song, recorded live, and became a #1 hit in 1975. Hudson also wrote a follow-up song, with Chris Neal, called “Rak off Normie”, which was sung by Maureen Elkner and reached #6 in the charts.
